MRI examinations may only be performed in patients with an implanted programmable ventriculoperitoneal (VP) shunts if the device-specific MRI conditions can safely be met, and a device-specific programmer and/or trained clinician is available to interrogate the device settings post-examination and reprogram the VP shunt if necessary.
